I am not a “techie”, as a matter of fact, some would even call me tech challenged, and as such I was slightly concerned how I would adapt. While working as the Interactive Marketing Manager for ContentActive, a Houston based custom web and mobile technology company, I have been bracing myself for what I thought would be serious learning curve; of the back end development of websites. I was more than pleasantly surprised that Umbraco was exceptionally easy to use and to follow.
Umbraco is an open source Content Management System used for producing websites. What makes it stand out is that it has been developed to cater to any user, regardless of technical skill! Umbraco, coined as the “friendly CMS” has a tree-view of your websites’ pages. By this, your website content is organized the same way as you see it on the site. It is a mirrored image of your actual site where you can edit content, posts photos and make any other changes you see fit.
The CMS is built on .NET technology which makes it extremely secure. Much of the other website software out there is not as secure and many have experienced numerous bugs. Umbraco also has Multi-lingual support which becomes a pivotal tool in reaching more markets. It furthers its capabilities with many other great features including the power to publish. It even has a feature called “rollback” that reverts the website back to the previous version if you publish something by accident, and need to delete it, and it integrates with almost any system.
